Allison Williams

Associate Professor in the School of Earth, Environment & Society, McMaster University; with previous faculty appointments at University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon).

She and Donna Wilson are the Co-PIs on the CIHR-funding program of research that is profiled in this May 17-21 discussion series. Allison is trained as a health geographer, and she specializes in research addressing: health care services and policy, informal caregiving, quality of life, and therapeutic landscapes.

She is the recipient of a number of awards, including the CIHR OWHC/IGH Mid-Career Scientist Salary Award (2008-2013), the CIHR New Investigator Salary Award (2001-2006), and the Canadian Association of Geographer’s Julian M. Szeicz Award in recognition of outstanding achievements in geography, particularly concerning the geography of health. In addition to contributing to a number of tri-council adjudication committees and a number of editorial committees for various peer-reviewed journals, she has successfully supervised more than 10 graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. She is currently supervising another six.
